Ivy Lavie, MFT, SEP
In 2006, I opened the doors of my practice to clients in the greater San Francisco area — offering a wide range of counseling and psychological services to support people through life’s challenges
and their most trying times.
Life can get difficult, and sometimes a little help from a professional psychotherapist can
create space for change. I care about your well-being and provide you the tools you need to
navigate difficult circumstances.
I believe that each person has a wholeness within. By cultivating this powerful relationship with yourself, you can renew your life, relationships, and community.
I am a parent, and a partner, and I am committed to exploring these issues both personally and professionally. I am a member of my professional association, CAMFT, and I am a certified Somatic Experiencing practitioner.
I have worked in educational and retreat settings including Spirit Rock Family Program,
Family Service Agency of Marin, independent schools, Bayside Addiction and Recovery Center, and I lead annual retreats at the Esalen Institute. I have given public talks across the country, and been a featured presenter at the Wisdom 2.0 conference in San Francisco. In addition to completing the three year advanced certification in trauma training with Somatic Experiencing International (SEI), I have 50 hours of in-person training with Peter Levine (founder of SEI), and forty hours of training with Bessel Van Der Kolk (Author, The Body Doesn't Lie) teaching conjointly with Peter Levine. I have also assisted over 100 hours of trauma trainings for SEI, and I currently serve as Chair of the Somatic Experiencing International Ethics Committee. I have completed the Hakomi professional training for experiential mindfulness-based psychotherapy two times, and have assisted the two year Hakomi Comprehensive training. I have logged hundreds of hours counseling children in schools, and I have been supporting both children and adults for twenty years in my private practice. I remain deeply inspired by my clients, and the profound growth I am privileged to witness throughout their life journey.
